Melissa had the tough task of relating to 20 of our program women, many of whom are street-hardened, no-nonsense recovering addicts who often are quick to dismiss others or put up defensive walls. Within hours, though, Melissa's genuine love for God and her straight-forward, solid teaching broke down their walls and allowed them to see the true Christ. I can't begin to describe their smiles and tears, but their chants of "Preacher Girl!" are still echoing through our halls. I am grateful for Melissa's ministry to women, and I know 20 women who will never forget her.

Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission

Walking in Grace Ministries is on mission to bring God's people to Him by sharing the gospel with those in need. Watch the video to see a glimpse of how we've served. We'd love to partner with your church and teach at your next women's mission trip.

Melissa is an exceptionally gifted speaker who was able to connect instantly and sincerely with our ladies during their annual retreat.  She related to them in a powerful and penetrating manner, and showed from Scripture why the infinite holiness and grace of God can and should change their lives.  It did!  For weeks after, our ladies were discussing the content of the weekend and the insights that Melissa shared, as well as her own personal testimony.  Melissa exceeded our expectations and was instrumental in renewing passion for the heart of God in our ladies.  We can’t wait to do it again!

About Melissa

Melissa Shaver, Director of Walking in Grace Ministries, began the ministry in 2003 through the testimony of what God was doing in her life. Through making the decision to give Jesus Christ full authority of her life 15 years prior, she had to learn how to have a personal relationship with her Lord through Bible study and prayer. A passion developed in her to teach and encourage other women to strive for this life-changing relationship.

“I am who I am literally because of God's grace in my life. He absolutely knew the plans He had for me before I was born, and He has protected me through many a circumstance for me to be where I am today. God truly has stubborn love for every one of us and will not let go.  I am living proof of that.”      -Melissa Shaver

Through her own life experience, Melissa Shaver knows the importance of growing in the Lord through the personal study of His Word.  Her purpose is to bring women together with one goal - to fully experience and richly know Jesus Christ.

Before focusing on Walking in Grace Ministries, Melissa worked in corporate America specializing in marketing and communications. She has a unique ability to bring audiences together as a community yet speak to them individually in relation to where they are today. Her desire is to create an environment with focus and purpose so that women can realize their incredible significance in God and begin to live out the purpose He has for each of them.

She has written Bible studies and devotionals. She currently writes GraceTALK – a monthly devotional you can subscribe to by going to her website. Her ministry involves an internet ministry with on-line Bible studies, partnering with churches in special events, retreats and mission trips, and worship conferences that bring women from all denominations together to worship the Lord in teaching, singing, and drama.

“Walking in Grace Ministries is incredibly mission focused from the standpoint that if we can teach, minister to and disciple the believer into understanding how to have a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ through studying the Word of God, prayer and fellowship, then the serving and “being on mission” for Him will come automatically. We mustn’t focus on serving and missions as priority because then it becomes works and the believer stays “flat” and still struggles in every day living…but if we focus on the relationship first and the falling in love portion…then life can become abundant and victorious and Christ becomes a lasting fragrance that is quite natural…missions and ministry efforts become an automatic overflow of the heart that comes quite naturally because it’s the full leading and working of the Holy Spirit.  It’s the whole Isaiah 6:1-8 mentality….a very loud message the Lord has given this ministry to proclaim. “

Walking in Grace Ministries is a 501(c)3 organization since 2007. Melissa lives in McKinney with her husband of 17 years and 3 beautiful children. She graduates from Dallas Theological Seminary in Spring 2010.

Our Mission

The mission of Walking in Grace Ministries is to encourage God's people to draw close to Him. We are on mission to serve His people and share the love of Jesus Christ. We hope our Bible study tools and GraceTalk devotionals will assist each person to follow Christ. We believe that a relationship with Jesus Christ will change your life...for eternity...and it will give you all you need to live life with purpose. Christ is all truth, righteousness and hope that each one of us need. We are here to help you see your significance in Christ and be transformed through the work of the Holy Spirit.

What We Believe

The Bible
We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life.

The Trinity
We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The Person and Work of Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He is completely God and completely man. He lived a sinless life, and he died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of the Father, He now is our High Priest and Advocate.

The Holy Spirit
We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and during this age to convict men, give life to the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct and empower the believer for godly living and service.

Man and Sin
We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore separated from God both physically and spiritually and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained.

We believe in salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. That He paid for our sins, not based on human merit, works, or religious ceremony. We believe that anyone who has placed their faith in Christ is eternally secure, has everlasting life, will not come into condemnation, and shall never perish. We believe that assurance comes to the believer from three primary sources: trusting the Word of God’s promises, the witness of the Holy Spirit, and a persevering walk with the Lord.
